Planning, money

How to split costs on a group trip without chasing people

On a group trip the money is where it gets awkward. Someone fronts the villa, someone forgets to pay, and one person ends up chasing the chat for weeks.

A spreadsheet nobody keeps updated will not fix it. What works is one shared view of who owes what and who has paid, that the group can see as they go.

Agree the split up front

Decide how you are splitting the big costs before you book them. Even shares for the villa, per head for the nights out, and anyone who wants a private room pays the difference. Get it agreed while it is still easy.

See who has paid

Once the costs are in, the group needs to see who has settled and who has not, without one person keeping a private tally. A shared view does that, and the nudge comes from the screen, not from you.

The money in the open

Sync Us shows each person's share, who has paid and who is still pending. It shows the money, it never touches it. Everyone pays the supplier or each other direct, so nobody is fronting the whole trip and hoping to be paid back.
